Course description
The AS qualification has a broad appeal and develops students communication and decision-making skills. These are harnessed to build and maintain an e-portfolio as a showcase for their achievements. The skills acquired through study for the AS level in Applied ICT will support further study in any subject area. Requirements for the course The qualification has an AS/A2 structure. It can take the form of: - a single award AS GCE (3 units) - a single award advanced GCE (6 units) AS level The course covers three modules, all of which have to be studied. Unit 1: The Information Age (portfolio) Unit 2: The Digital Economy (portfolio) Unit 3: The Knowledge Worker (practical assessment) Two portfolio assignments will be assessed internally, through a teacher assessed portfolio and one practical examination will be assessed externally. These three units will be equally sized and equally weighted. Students are given pre-release materials relevant to their examination units.

Entry requirements
You will need a grade B or above in GCSE ICT and C or above in GCSE Maths and English Language.
Assessment
AS - Two portfolio assignments will be assessed internally, through a teacher-assessed portfolio and one practical exam will be assessed externally. These three units will be equally sized and equally weighted.
A2 - Two portfolio assignments will be assessed internally, through a teacher-assessed portfolio and one practical exam will be assessed externally.
